Creating Your 1Bitcoin.ca Account

Learn how to create and verify your 1Bitcoin.ca account so you're ready to purchase Bitcoin.


Getting started with 1Bitcoin.ca only takes a few simple steps. Before you can make your first deposit, you'll need to verify your account and complete your account setup.

1️⃣ Sign Up

You will:

  • enter your email address

  • create a password

  • confirm your email using the verification link sent to you


2️⃣ Verify Your Identity

After logging in:

  • Click Verify My Identity.

  • Upload a valid government-issued photo ID.

  • Complete the selfie or video verification, if prompted.

  • Upload your proof of residence document.

Accepted photo ID includes:

  • Driver's Licence

  • Passport

  • Provincial ID Card

Your proof of residence document must:

  • Show your full name.

  • Show your residential address.

  • Be dated within the last 3 months.

Accepted documents include:

  • Utility bill

  • Bank statement

  • Government-issued correspondence

Most verifications are approved quickly, although some accounts may require additional review.

3️⃣ Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

For additional account security:

  • go to Profile Settings > Security

  • enable Two-Factor Authentication using an authenticator app

Popular authenticator apps include:

  • Google Authenticator

  • Authy

2FA helps protect your account even if your password is compromised.

4️⃣ Add Your Whitelisted Bitcoin Wallet

Before you can make a deposit, you'll need to add and verify the Bitcoin wallet where you'd like your Bitcoin purchases delivered.

Once your wallet has been verified, it becomes your active Whitelisted Wallet.

Once you've:

  • Verified your identity,

  • Uploaded your proof of residence,

  • Enabled Two-Factor Authentication, and

  • Added your Whitelisted Bitcoin Wallet,

you're ready to make your first deposit.

Once your deposit is received and processed, it will automatically be used to purchase Bitcoin, which will be delivered directly to your verified Whitelisted Wallet.
