Account Security Best Practices

Your Bitcoin is only as secure as the devices, passwords, and accounts protecting it. Following a few simple security habits can help reduce the risk of unauthorized access or scams.

🔑 Use a Strong, Unique Password

Your 1Bitcoin.ca password should:

  • be at least 12 characters long

  • include letters, numbers, and symbols

  • be different from passwords used on other websites

Using a password manager can help securely store your login information.

Popular password managers include:

  • 1Password

  • Bitwarden

📱 Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

For additional security:

  1. Go to Settings > Security

  2. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

  3. Connect an authenticator app

Popular authenticator apps include:

  • Google Authenticator

  • Authy

2FA adds an extra layer of protection even if your password becomes compromised.

⚠️ Watch Out for Phishing

Always make sure you are logging into:

Be cautious of:

  • fake websites

  • suspicious emails

  • social media impersonators

  • fake ads pretending to be 1Bitcoin.ca- fake text messages claiming a "direct deposit is pending"

  • urgent deadline-based requests

  • requests to "approve funds" or "release funds"

⚠️ 1Bitcoin.ca will never ask for:

  • your password

  • your 2FA code

  • your seed phrase- approval of funds by a deadline

  • payments to "release" funds

  • information via text messages

Additionally, 1Bitcoin.ca does not send text messages about pending or direct deposits. All official communications are conducted through secure and verified channels.

Steps to take if you receive a suspicious message:

  1. Do not click any links in the message.

  2. Log in directly through https://1bitcoin.ca to verify your account status.

  3. Report the suspicious message to 1Bitcoin.ca support.

  4. Change your password and enable two-factor authentication if you suspect your account may be compromised.

👀 Stay Alert

To help protect your account:

  • monitor for unusual login activity

  • enable email notifications when available

  • avoid public Wi-Fi or shared devices

  • keep your phone and computer updated- do not respond to unsolicited messages claiming to be from 1Bitcoin.ca

⚠️ Important Reminder

Bitcoin transactions usually cannot be reversed once confirmed.

Always verify wallet addresses carefully before sending Bitcoin.
