πŸ“¦ Before You Start

Before beginning setup, make sure you have:

  • your Ledger device

  • the official Ledger Live app

  • a secure place to store your seed phrase

⚠️ For security reasons, it is strongly recommended to buy hardware wallets directly from the manufacturer whenever possible.

πŸ”Œ Step 1: Set Up Your Device

Turn on the Ledger device and follow the on-screen setup instructions.

During setup, you will be asked to:

  • create a PIN

  • generate a recovery seed phrase

Take your time and review each step carefully before continuing.

🌱 Step 2: Write Down Your Seed Phrase

Your Ledger device will display a recovery phrase during setup.

This recovery phrase is the backup to your wallet.

⚠️ Write the words down carefully and store them securely offline.

Never:

  • save the phrase digitally

  • store it in cloud storage

  • take screenshots

  • share it with anyone

Anyone with access to your recovery phrase can access your Bitcoin.

Using Ledger Live:

  • connect your device

  • install the Bitcoin app

  • create a Bitcoin account

Ledger Live helps manage balances, transactions, and wallet connections while the Ledger device securely stores your private keys offline.

πŸ“¬ Step 4: Receive Bitcoin

Generate a Bitcoin receiving address and carefully confirm it matches the address shown directly on the Ledger device screen before using it.

Verifying addresses directly on the hardware wallet helps reduce phishing and malware risks.
